Boynton Canyon 2

9x12 oil on canvas $125

This is another study of a place where I have painted numerous times. This, like the one a few days ago is mostly palette knife painting. I enjoy the sense of mood from a limited palette.

Moving

Over the past week I have been moving from Sedona to Flagstaff where my girls attend high school. They have discovered a wonderful charter school in the Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy (FALA). As one who has traveled far and wide in search of the right educational mix, (ultimately becoming the director of an art school - the do it yourself solution) I can only support them in their pursuit.

This move brings proximity to a new set of subject matter. The Grand Canyon, urban and university scenes, winter scenes and the dramatic drive to work in Sedona! New daily one-session paintings will resume posting on Oct 11.

As the Sedona Arts Center (where I work) moves into its plein air painting season with a festival and associated workshops at the end of October I will be focusing on the landscape. In the last week of October I will be participating in a plein air painting workshop with Marcia Burtt. Marcia is a terrific acrylic plein air painter. For that week I will work in acrylic on a slightly larger scale and will post the results daily.
