Sink and Mirror - An Old Friend

Oil on canvas 50x40(approx) Private Collection

This was a painting I had not seen for years, and had never taken picture of. A kind of image I will probably return to someday. More about multiplicity than unity and classical irony rather than a romantic moment. But I have always suspected that those modes (or moods) hide within each other.

Please Email me for purchase information.

Pomegranate

6x8 oil on canvas/panel $85

I thought I might be leaving the Greenberg influence behind and just painting a colorful fruit but partway through the painting I realized this is still very much in the "Modernism" series, '#3' then.

Morning Choices

16x20 oil on canvas $300
Still reading about Greenberg's ideas and still experiencing 'deja vu', an experience of reflecting upon the time that I first encountered these ideas. For myself I have always been interested in the magical relationship between painted objects and the virtual space they occupy. An emphasis on the paint itself heightens the tension between that space and the surface of the work.

Cup and Saucer #1

6x8 oil on canvas $85

I've been reading a book by the art critic Donald Kuspit on the art critic Clement Greenberg. This kind of reading really takes me back to my college days. So this may be the start of a series. "Modernism Revisited."
